How it plays

Drahtschneider is a bluffing game with hidden roles for three or four: everyone holds compartments of wires, empty chambers, and a detonator hidden somewhere among them — and one of you is secretly the saboteur. At the start of each round, everyone claims by clicking how many wires they hold and whether the detonator is theirs; all claims appear at once, and the saboteur lies. Whoever holds the cutters taps another player, one of their compartments springs open, and the cutters pass to them. In the first round the detonator doesn't go off — it just glows and reveals whose hand it's in. If every wire ends up exposed, the defusers win; if the detonator goes off, or the fourth round ends first, the saboteur wins.

Goal and rules

Goal Every wire

Find every wire before the detonator goes off or the fourth round ends!

The saboteur wins with the detonator or on time. In round 1 the detonator doesn't go off: a dud just glows and gives away who holds it. If the defusers win, the point goes to whoever cut the most wires.

  1. Cutting Whoever holds the pliers taps another colour's workbench. One of their closed slots pops open at random.
  2. Pliers The pliers pass to the colour that was just cut.
  3. New round Once as many cuts have been made as there are colours at the table, a new round begins: everything still closed is reshuffled and dealt out, each colour with one slot fewer.
  4. Bluff At the start of every round, each colour clicks to declare how many wires they hold and whether the detonator is with them. Declarations appear all at once — the saboteur is allowed to lie.

No voice link: Declarations happen here by click. Whoever also talks learns more — and can bluff better.

Controls

Tap or click: at the start of every round, your declaration of wires and detonator; after that, while you hold the pliers, another colour's workbench. With a keyboard: Tab and Enter.

In the arena, the goal and the rules are always behind the question mark, even mid-round — and between rounds, so is the story.
